sure, learning parry timings and doge rolling is an important skill for long term success, but if i never bit the bullet and used a shield in the fight against dlc boss: slave knight gael i would never have beaten it. now that i have beaten it, i can go back and and try without a shield and try to do better and improve. Sure you can mix/max all your stats, go full sweaty meta, but it's still a video game at the end of the day and if you're not having fun, why are you playing it? i'd also recommend playing offline at the moment unless you have Blue Sentinel or some other anti-cheat mod installed due there being a lot of cheaters around these days.
